On Wednesday the 31st of January the Reading Club Llegim el Patrimoni officially started with the first of the sessions of discussion around the novel El Vellocino de Oro (The Golden Fleece), by Robert Graves. This initiative is the result of the collaboration between the National Archaeological Museum of Tarragona (MNAT), the Public Library of Tarragona and ONCE Catalonia and, in this edition, it does so under the title Stories of Antiquity: Empowered Women?
In this first meeting, which took place at the Public Library of Tarragona, the readers were able to share their impressions about the novel by Robert Graves, which relates the mythical expedition of Jason on board the Argos to get the golden fleece with a special role of the crew that accompanied him: Hercules, Orpheus, Atalanta, Castor, Pollux, Linceo... The session was conducted by Joana Zaragoza, PhD in Greek Philology.
The reading club Llegim el Patrimoni will continue in February with the reading of El rey debe morir by Mary Renault, a work that goes through the myth of Theseus and his fight against the Minotaur but giving greater prominence to the feelings and relationships of the other characters also present in this story. To complement this reading, on February 14, the conference Voices against silence. Women of myth in the ancient world, by Montserrat Reig and Jesús Carruesco, while the meeting to discuss the work will take place on February 28 at the Library of Tarragona.
